This is traditional Shotokan karate style – Shoto mushin kai,  that is composed of diverse clients, everyone in between 5 and 85 years old. It is a form of Martial art  that was developed in Japan in which your feet and hands are used to block,  kick and hit an opponent.

True karate is based on Bushido. In true karate, the body, mind and spirit—the whole person—must be developed simultaneously. Through intense practice, the physical and mental aspects of karate can be brought together. The result is natural, effortless action, and the confidence, humility, openness and peace only possible through perfect unity of body and mind.

Shoto mushin kai – defenition:
“Shoto” – from the Shotokan style of karate:
“Sho” means the lower part of the body , “To” the upper part of the body. Legs are stability of a tree with roots, branches are hands.
“Mushin” – literally empty mind, but in fact without thinking, thinking interferes etc.
